“APPROVED” MINUTES FOR MARCH 9, 2009

Special Meeting Held at Crossett Brook Library

IN ATTENDANCE

BOARD: Dale Smeltzer, Sherry Ziemke, Scott Rathke, Reed McCracken and Ben Smith

ADMINISTRATOR: Richard Moser

STAFF/SEARCH COMMITTEE: Don Schneider, Barbara Tomasi-Gay, Doug Lombard, Ken Page, Ellen Barillaro, Mary Ellen Lamson, Lori Morse, Pattie Carroll, Lauren Taratoot

1. Dick Moser called the special meeting to order at 6:06 p.m. Reed McCracken moved to open nominations for Waterbury-Duxbury Board Chair. Sherry Ziemke seconded the motion which passed unanimously. Reed McCracken moved to nominate Dale Smeltzer as Chair. Scott Rathke seconded the motion. Sherry Ziemke moved to close nominations and Scott Rathke seconded that motion which passed unanimously. Dick Moser then called for the vote on the nomination for Dale Smeltzer as Chair, which passed unanimously.

2. Dick Moser explained the process that had been used for this expedited search interview.

A. The decision was made to look at one candidate who was well received by the principal search committee, plus any internal candidates of whom there were none.

B. Meetings for this candidate were scheduled with staff today.

C. A set of interview questions was developed.

D. There will be the opportunity for additional questions at the end, including by staff.

E. The candidate will leave at which time comments from the staff may occur and then staff will leave.

F. Comments from the administrators will occur, at which point they will leave.

G. The process will conclude with Dick discussing the candidate with the Board.

3. Sherry Ziemke moved to go into executive session to discuss personnel, with the staff invited, at 6:15 p.m. Ben Smith seconded the motion which passed unanimously. It was agreed to come out of executive session at 9:25 p.m. with no action taken.

Reed McCracken moved to adjourn the meeting 9:26 p.m. Ben Smith seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
