“UNOFFICIAL” MINUTES FOR JANUARY 25, 2007

Special Meeting Held in Crossett Brook Middle School Conference Room

IN ATTENDANCE

Board: Dale Smeltzer, Susan Flynn, Michael Roche, and Sherry Ziemke

Administrators: Bob McNamara, Ken Page, and Don Schneider

Public: Maureen McCracken, Reed McCracken, Dave Goodman, Peter Pflegge, Erin Mooney, Monica Mead, Carmel Kelley, Melissa Riegel-Garrett, Lisa Scagliotti

1) Dale Smeltzer called the meeting to order at 7:36 a.m.

2) Special Article regarding classroom teacher to reduce classroom sizes: There was discussion around the wording of this article, and it was agreed to delete the word “extra”, and replace the word “reduce” with “sustain current”, to most accurately and simply reflect the complex situation that this is proposed to address.

3) Special Article regarding designating property at Thatcher Brook Primary School for long-term playground use: Dale Smeltzer suggested that the square footage being officially committed be reduced, even though the playground might take a greater area, to provide for the greatest future flexibility in use of the school property. The board concurred and the square footage was reduced from 18,000 down to 16,000 in the language for the article.

4) Susan Flynn moved to amend the Annual Meeting Warning for the Waterbury School District #45 to include these additional two articles with language changes as discussed above. Sherry Ziemke seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

5) Michael Roche moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:59 a.m. Susan Flynn seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
